In Amy Winehouse’s Autopsy Report

With hit singles like “Rehab” and “Back to Black,” Amy Winehouse was a huge name in the music world for nearly half of the 2000s. However, her longtime struggles with addiction and relationship issues — coupled with the constant glare of the paparazzi — drove her to a tragic and premature death at the age of 27.
In total, two autopsy reports were done on Winehouse’s body after she was found dead at her London home. While both reports agreed that her death was an accident and found large amounts of alcohol (416 mg per deciliter of blood) in her system, only the second report concluded that it was the main cause of her demise.
The sad truth is that Winehouse’s untimely death may have been caused by her attempts to maintain sobriety. After avoiding alcohol for a month before her relapse, she had a diminished alcohol tolerance level which — combined with her binge drinking — was enough to put her in a coma and “depress her respiratory system,” according to The Guardian. Her brother Alex also cites her bulimia as a factor behind her weakened constitution.
