History - Science
When the 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of singers Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, died in 2015, the fate of the fortune that she had inherited from her late mother was unclear. Brown had been the sole benefactor of Houston’s will, but a lot of it was being kept in a trust until she was older.
People Magazine reports that while Bobbi Kristina was in a medically-induced coma prior to her death, a conservator was hired to manage the 22-year-old’s assets, likeness, rights, and legal claims. After her death, boyfriend Nick Gordon claimed to be married to her in order to inherit her money, but it was found out that he was not.
Brown’s mother’s fortune went back to the Houston estate, which benefitted Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, and Whitney's two brothers. It remains unclear whether Bobbi ever drafted a will allowing either her father or her boyfriend to inherit her fortune, but her father has not claimed any part of it.
