  • Amy was tapped to be an on-air expert for the CNN/HLN docuseries "Very Scary People" for the spring 2021 episode on serial killer Robert Hansen after writing articles about the story.
  • She once had her own column in the alternative weekly, Creative Loafing Tampa, that focused on culture, society, and the weird things that make us human.
  • Amy regularly attends live music concerts and festivals, along with supporting bands at local shows. She has hundreds of vinyl records that are for playing — not collecting — and she still loves reading liner notes.

Experience

Amy's writing experience spans more than 20 years, during which time she regularly contributed to or contracted with more than a dozen print and digital publications. She worked as a newsroom researcher for three years in the 11th biggest market in the U.S., where duties included (but not limited to) fact-checking, voluminous information gathering, document deciphering, and writing web copy. In the early aughts, Amy was published in BUST Magazine. Since then, her work has been published in several local publications in the Tampa Bay area. On the national stage, she's been published in Salon and was a news writer at Heavy.com before happily joining Grunge.

Education

Amy holds a bachelor's degree in creative writing from Eckerd College and a master's in journalism and media studies from the University of South Florida.
